On the LP we include environmental chaos and unstable attachments as an element of Toxic Socialization. Chaos, crowding, noise, etc., in the family, community, and school environments is toxic to human development. It undermines health, functioning, and our ability to connect. Here is a scholarly reading on environment and child development that provides a long list of evidence for this assertation. It is an international review article and it covers a wide range of negative effects.  It’s a little thick if you’re not used to reading this kind of thing, but it’s well worth the effort to slog through it.
