There is a great book by Alfi Kohn entitled No Contest: The Case Against Competition.  This reading, linked below, is a summary of the basic argument of that book. On the LP we would agree with Kohn. “Rather than building character, competition sabotages self-esteem and ruins relationships. It even warps recreation by turning the playing field into a battlefield.” No matter how you try to “pretty it up” with fancy uniforms and half naked cheerleaders, competition is a form of violence against another human being. As such, it is toxic and ultimately disconnects you from your Highest Self. You can read the book if you need to see the evidence. If not, the reading below is a good summary and overview.
