Committed to Decolonization

The Lightning Path has a vision for the future that re-arranges the current systems we live in. Towards this end, we commit to full decolonization by integrating Indigenous knowledge, cultures, and traditions into our practices, and respecting Indigenous rights. Our majority-indigenous team continuously incorporates indigenous perspectives during any decision; our workforce undergoes training on colonial impacts and fostering relationships with Indigenous communities based on mutual respect and understanding. We support their economic self-determination and actively seek partnerships for growth.

Recognizing the Land We are On

We recognize that Edmonton, Alberta, the base for the Lightning Path, is located on largely unceded Indigenous territories, a consequence of centuries-old colonial impositions. Our acknowledgement comes with a solemn responsibility to challenge and rectify these historical injustices in our work and partnerships, amplifying Indigenous sovereignty and rights
