Anger Assessment

Anger is a natural emotion. Anger is a useful emotion. Anger, when resolved properly, is a healthy Steering Emotion that helps keep us safe and strong by steering us in a direction of safety and health. When we feel anger, it is usually because somebody or something is violating a psychological, emotional, spiritual, or physical boundary of ours, and causing us discomfort or harm.

Anger is, however, not always functional. As explained in this article, chronic anger (i.e., when you or someone you know is angry all the time) damages your brain and central nervous system, undermines your health and well-being, and slowly destroys your ability to engage in healthy spiritual practice.

The first step towards resolving anger is to see if you are, in fact, angry. The short assessment below measures the extent to which you are angry. If your anger reading is high, you need to step back and figure out why you are angry so you can take steps to manage and resolve it before the damage becomes severe.
