Lightning Path Spirituality
You can’t talk about Human Development and the actuation of full Human Potential without talking about spirituality. Even a casual glance at the historical and empirical record, even a cursory look at humanity, even a brief look at the science, tells you there is something powerful there worth examining. The question is, what is it?
That’s question is, apparently, not so easy to answer. Spirituality has been variously defined by theorists as a call to God, a subjective experience of the sacred, and “that vast realm of human potential dealing with ultimate purposes, with higher entities, with God, with love, with compassion, with purpose”[1]Brian J. In the popular realm spirituality can mean anything from talking in tongues to working with crystals and tarot decks to channelling dis-incarnate entities. What is spirituality? What does it mean to live a spiritual life? There is no clear consensus to be found, anywhere.[2]

On the Lightning Path, we define spirituality as a process of need fulfillment. Specifically, being spiritual means actively working to fulfill the Seven Essential Needs, your own and, importantly, the needs of others. When you are working to meet needs you are living a spiritual life. This is more significant than it might first appear. Meeting your needs, especially your inner needs for alignment and connection, has significant, positive, well-documented consequences. Just like a flower planted in a garden grows into a strong, healthy flower when all its essential needs are met, so do you you grow into a strong, healthy, compassionate, empathic, loving, connected, and beautiful human when all your needs are met.
